A person is in critical condition after being stabbed with a knife on Wednesday afternoon near 1922 Mission St. (between 15th and 16th), police said Thursday.

The incident, which occurred at 5:22 p.m., sent the unknown victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police did not disclose the victim's name, age or gender.

The suspect in the case is a 46-year-old man. According to police, he and the victim were arguing when the victim struck him with a piece of wood. The argument then continued, until he stabbed the victim with a knife.

SFPD units arrived on scene and were able to arrest the suspect. The aftermath of the stabbing caused delays and reroutes on a number of bus lines, as officials warned passerby to avoid the area.
