Dogs in Nashville looking for their furr-ever homesPhotos: Petfinder

Interested in adopting a pet — or just looking at some cuddly canines? There are dozens of deserving dogs up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Nashville.

Animal shelters work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of dogs currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Diezel, German shepherd

Diezel is an adorable male German shepherd dog currently residing at Middle Tennessee German Shepherd Rescue.

Diezel is happy to keep company with other dogs. He's already house-trained. Diezel is neutered and vaccinated.

From Diezel's current caretaker:

Diezel is a handsome, black and tan, male German shepherd dog. He is approximately 5 years old and weighs around 80 pounds. He has a moderate energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. He is good with older kids and most dogs but has not been cat-tested.

Baxter, Great Pyrenees mix

Baxter is a sweet male Great Pyrenees mix staying at Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.

Baxter plays well with others — he gets along well with other dogs, cats and kids. Baxter is already neutered, and he has all his shots. Have no fear: He's already house-trained.

Notes from Baxter's caretakers:

Meet Baxter. He's a really handsome Great Pyrenees mix who we think could have some Husky in him. His coloring is remarkable. He's drop dead gorgeous and has a personality to match. Baxter is sweet and kind, but may be a bit large for toddlers who are not used to big dogs. Pyr rules apply to this guy. He will need a securely fenced-in yard and someone committed to leash walking.

Patriot, Belgian shepherd

Patriot is a lovable male Belgian shepherd dog being cared for at Middle Tennessee German Shepherd Rescue.

He's already house-trained. He already has all of his shots.

Notes from Patriot's caretakers:

Patriot is a gorgeous, fawn and black (and a little bit of brindle) male Belgian Malinois (Dutch Shepherd?) mix. He is approximately 1-2 years old and weighs around 75 pounds. He is very athletic and has a strong toy/ball drive but has an overall moderate energy level.
