A new Italian restaurant has opened in the neighborhood. Located at 2717 61st Ave. SW at the Alki Homestead in West Seattle, the fresh arrival is called Il Nido.

The new business specializes in Italian dishes served in a cozy, modern log cabin setting. The menu now features appetizers, salads, handmade pastas and main entrees cooked up by James Beard Award-nominated chef Mike Easton. Specific menu items include lavender-smoked sausage, burrata, rigatoni, ragu and more.

Il Nido has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Kate S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 23, wrote, "Food was brilliant, as expected. All courses were really tasty, but the pasta was our favorite. The cocktails were also really, really good — we had a gorgeous aperitivo as we waited for our reservation time and the bottle of red our server recommended went perfectly with dinner."

Yelper Shab G. added, “Food was very delicious and tasty! The focaccia bread was to die for and we tried two pastas, which were both delicious."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Il Nido is open from 5–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
