With a gorgeous forecast ahead, it's all about getting outside and enjoying a little sunshine this weekend. From Cinco de Mayo festivities to a pop-up village to a free walking tour, there are plenty of fun things to do around The Town. 

Here are our top picks for getting outdoors this weekend in Oakland.

Pop-Up Village in West Oakland

Taking place in West Oakland every first Friday from May through August, the Pop-Up Village — which brings an assortment of health and wellness activities to the neighborhood — is a free, family-friendly event. Expect healing massage, acupuncture, yoga, youth activities, free books, pop-up shops, live music, food and cooking demonstrations. 

When: Friday, May 3, 3–8 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo celebration at Jack London Square

Next, check out Jack London Square's second annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. Anticipate more than 40 food and merchandise vendors, live music, car shows, children's activities and more.

Walking tours in Oakland — Preservation Park

From May through October, the city of Oakland offers free, 90-minute walking tours, where participants can get a glimpse of "the city’s changing skyline, landmarks, churches and high-rises," according to the organizers. You'll get to tour neighborhoods like Old Oakland, City Center, Uptown, Preservation Park, the Jack London waterfront, Chinatown and more.

Bay Bridge Half Marathon — volunteers needed

Finally, the organizers of the Bay Bridge Half Marathon are looking for your help. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available for the annual race, including at water/aid stations and at the finish line. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and a portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Oakland A's Community Fund, the Alameda County Food Bank and the Oakland Public Education Fund. Although registration for the race this year has closed, if you feel inspired to run, pre-registration for next year's race is now open. 

When: Sunday, May 5, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
Where: Start at Adeline and 3rd Street and finish at 95 Linden St. and 3rd Street
