It's Mother's Day this weekend, and if your mom lives locally, we've got four great ideas for a potential celebration. Whether she loves classic musicals, browsing avant-garde art or enjoying brunch aboard a boat on the Bay, there's something fun in store.
'West Side Story' in Concert
If your mom loves Broadway musicals, she'll enjoy this special concert performance of Leonard Bernstein's classic, which transposes the star-crossed lovers of "Romeo and Juliet" to the street gangs of '50s New York.
Accompanied by the Oakland Symphony and featuring the vocal stylings of the Oakland Symphony Chorus, the Chabot College Choir and the Pacific Boychoir Academy, the concert will star opera singer Julie Adams as Maria and Broadway veteran Bobby Conte Thornton as Tony.
