Here are some notable incidents that have taken place in SFPD's Central District since our last biweekly recap. The district encompasses Chinatown; the Financial District; the Embarcadero; Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills; North Beach and Union Square.

Man kicked out of club, arrested for assault

On June 2 at 2:05 a.m., a 29-year-old man was arrested for assault at a nightclub on the 2800 block of Leavenworth Street, near Fisherman's Wharf. 

According to police reports, the suspect was "kicked out" of the business before confronting and punching two men, 29 and 32. The victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Man injured in stabbing

On May 30 at 1:30 a.m., a 50-year-old man was stabbed on the 500 block of Market Street (near Sansome) in the FiDi.

According to police, the victim was stabbed by a man of unknown age, who then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition. 

Teen arrested for cell phone theft

A 17-year-old girl was arrested for robbery near Powell and Post streets in Union Square on May 28 at 3:47 p.m. 

The suspect allegedly attacked a 49-year-old woman and stole her mobile phone before fleeing the scene. Officers were able to locate the suspect and take her into custody. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the victim's cellphone was returned to her.

4 teens rob man at knifepoint

Four male teens, all approximately 17 years old, robbed a 54-year-old man at knifepoint near Mason and Beach streets in North Beach May 24 at 9:29 p.m.

Police say the suspects surrounded the victim, and one pulled out a knife. They then took his backpack and fled the scene. No injuries or arrests were reported.

8 men rob two teens at gunpoint

Eight men robbed two teenagers at gunpoint in the FiDi, near the intersection of Market and Kearny streets, on May 24 at 8:36 p.m.

The male victims, 18 and 19, were surrounded by the suspects (whose ages are believed to range from 18-26, according to police) while standing at a bus shelter. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victims, demanding their property. They handed over their cellphones and wallets, and the suspects fled eastbound on Market Street. No injuries or arrests were reported. 

Suspect snags woman's phone in coffee shop

On May 24 at 12:48 p.m., a 64-year old woman was injured in a robbery on the 100 block of Drumm Street in the FiDi.

The victim was sitting in a Starbucks charging her cellphone when a male suspect in his early 20s walked into the business and approached her. The suspect grabbed the victim's phone, charger and headphones and attempted to flee the scene. The victim and several witnesses tried to stop the suspect, but he was able to get past them and abscond on foot. 

Man robbed while waiting for the bus

On May 23 at 9:15 p.m., a man was robbed from behind while waiting for a bus on the 500 block of Market Street (near Sansome Street) in the FiDi.

The victim, 59, was standing on a Muni boarding platform when the suspect, believed to be 16-20 years old, approached him from behind and grabbed his phone. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. No injuries or arrests were reported. 

Teen arrested for stealing woman's phone

Finally, two teenagers robbed a woman on the 100 block of Post Street at Kearny Street in the FiDi on May 22, just after 6 p.m.

The suspects, both 18, approached the victim, 29, and purloined her cellphone before fleeing on foot. Officers in the area were able to locate one of the suspects and take her into custody.
