Rocketman

The story of Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.

With a Tomatometer Score of 91% and an Audience Score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Rocketman" has racked up generally positive reviews since its release on May 31.

The New Yorker's Anthony Lane said, "If you need somebody to recount the rise of a British rock god from pallid suburbia to the baroque extremes of fame, and to create a stir without causing too much of a fuss, Fletcher is your man," while Leah Pickett of the Chicago Reader noted, "The story reshuffles reality, especially time and facts, and the film is more enjoyable for it."

Want to see for yourself? It's playing at Century Tucson Marketplace and XD (1300 E. Tucson Marketplace); Century Park Place 20 and XD (5870 E. Broadway Blvd.) and RoadHouse Cinemas Crossroads (4811 E. Grant Road) through Thursday, June 6. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Photograph

A struggling street photographer, pressured to marry by his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancée. The pair develops a connection that transforms them in ways that they could not expect.

Set to be released on Friday, Aug. 2, "Photograph" already has a Tomatometer Score of 79% and an Audience Score of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Like Polaroids and introverted people, 'Photograph' takes its time developing," according to Brad Wheeler of the Globe and Mail, while the Detroit News' Adam Graham said, "'Photograph' has a ways to go to sell its central love story. But Batra's touch is so tender that 'Photograph' builds a sweetness that overcompensates for its shortcomings."

It's playing at The Loft Cinema (3233 E. Speedway Blvd.) through Thursday, June 6. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Breakthrough

When he was 14, Smith drowned in Lake St. Louis and was dead for nearly an hour. According to reports at the time, CPR was performed 27 minutes to no avail. Then the youth's mother, Joyce Smith, entered the room, praying loudly. Suddenly, there was a pulse, and Smith came around.

With a Tomatometer Score of 60% and an Audience Score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Breakthrough" is well worth a watch.

"One of the more authentically moving entries in the genre, fueled by a gripping lead performance from 'This Is Us' star Chrissy Metz," noted Katie Walsh of the Los Angeles Times, while Radio Times' David Aldridge said, "'This Is Us' regular Chrissy Metz makes her presence felt as the boy's mum, and Topher Grace and Josh Lucas bring modest star power to a slick if sometimes slushy against-the-odds drama that's perfectly watchable, whether you subscribe to its claims or not."

You can catch it at Century Gateway 12 (770 N. Kolb Road) through Thursday, June 6. Click here for showtimes and tickets.
