Toy Story 4

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that's Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called "Forky" to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

In wide release starting today, "Toy Story 4" already has a Tomatometer Score of 98% and an Audience Score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

"For millennial audiences who've grown up with Woody and the gang over years of toy stories, the movie may even seem a minor miracle — proof that faith can be kept in a faithless world," said Ty Burr of The Boston Globe, while NPR's Justin Chang said, "Long after the contrived and misfired bits have faded, the brilliantly visualized action sequences and the pinpricks of emotion stay with you."

Catch it on the big screen at AMC Metreon 16 (135 Fourth St., Suite 3000) and Century San Francisco Centre 9 and XD (845 Market St.) through Wednesday, June 26; and Balboa Theater (3630 Balboa St.) and CinéArts at Empire (85 W. Portal Ave.) through Thursday, June 27. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Booksmart

Two academic teenage superstars realize, on the eve of their high school graduation, that they should have worked less and played more. Determined to never fall short of their peers, the girls set out on a mission to cram four years of fun into one night.

With a Tomatometer Score of 97% and an Audience Score of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Booksmart" has been a must-watch since its release on May 24.

"It's more John Hughes than Judd Apatow, and it's a little more 'Bridesmaids' than 'Lady Bird' ... a success on [its] own terms," noted Kristen Evans of The New Republic, while Salon.com's Erin Keane said, "'Booksmart' puts a fresh spin on the coming-of-age night-of comedy because it's focused on two girls, one of whom is also queer."

Interested? It's playing at AMC Metreon 16 (135 Fourth St., Suite 3000) and Roxie Theater (3117 16th St.) through Tuesday, June 25; and Marina Theatre (2149 Chestnut St.) through Thursday, June 27. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

A Touch of Zen

Ming dynasty noblewoman Yang must escape from the evil eunuch Hsu. She seeks refuge at a decrepit town where she gets assistance from a naive scholar and a group of mysterious yet powerful monks.

With a Tomatometer Score of 96% and an Audience Score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, this 1971 release has made a lasting impression. Time Out's Tony Rayns said, "The visual style will set your eyes on fire," and The New York Times' A.H. Weiler noted, "[King Hu] has not ignored traditional mayhem here, but he has demonstrated that pictorial artistry, Zen mysticism and the stylized martial arts can make a fascinating mix."

Catch it on the big screen at 4 Star Theater (2200 Clement St.) at 5:25 p.m. Sunday, June 23. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Avengers: Endgame

After the devastating events of "Avengers: Infinity War," the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

With a Tomatometer Score of 94% and an Audience Score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Avengers: Endgame" has become a favorite since its release on April 26. Matthew Lickona of the San Diego Reader stated, "The MCU will go on and on, but this chapter — and the American pragmatism vs. American ideals bromance that drove it — have well and truly come to their 'Excelsior! Nuff said!moment."
