Dogs in San Francisco looking for their fur-ever homesPhotos: Petfinder

Interested in adopting a pet — or just gazing at some delightful doggies? There are dozens of very good dogs up for adoption at animal shelters in and around San Francisco.

Animal shelters work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of dogs currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Remy, Labrador retriever and Weimaraner mix

Remy is a male Labrador retriever and Weimaraner mix being kept at Beyond Rescue.

Remy is happy to keep company with other dogs. He's already house-trained. His vaccinations are up to date and he is neutered.

Here's more from Remy:

Hey it’s me, Rémy! I love people and dogs of all shapes and sizes. I’m a chill guy and just need a few daily walks around the neighborhood, a soft bed to rest my bones, lots of cuddles and most of all a family of my very own. All I want is to hang out on the couch with people who love me. I’d also enjoy having some kids around that can scratch my belly until my foot twitches …and other dogs.

Kit, pit bull terrier and Labrador retriever mix

Kit is a sweet female pit bull terrier and Labrador retriever mix, currently in the care of Grateful Dogs Rescue.

Kit wants to be your one and only: She will need a home free of other dogs. She's already vaccinated and spayed. Good news: She is already house-trained.

Notes from Kit's caretakers:

Everyone who meets Kit describes her as super sweet. She is very calm and quiet. She loves to be close to her humans and snuggle on the couch. She loves to give kisses. She is completely house-trained and can be left alone for hours without a problem, but she loves going for walks and loves to run. She is happy to meet new people. Kit is very quiet and doesn’t bark. She knows sit and shake. Her fur is short and soft and she doesn’t seem to shed. She can be reactive to other dogs on leash so we are working on teaching her that other dogs are not scary.

Bubbles, chihuahua and rat terrier mix

Bubbles is a female chihuahua and rat terrier mix receiving care from 4 Dogs Farm Rescue.

Bubbles is a social butterfly, and she'll get along great with other dogs. Bubbles is already spayed and vaccinated. She's mastered her house-training etiquette.

Bubbles' current caretakers say:

Bubbles is such a sweet, playful and loving little girl. She is a 6-year-old, 9-pound chihuahua mix. Bubbles is very loyal and loves to snuggle up with her foster mom. Bubbles has hip dysplasia, so she is a little wonky on the back legs, but that doesn't stop her from playing and running.

Leo, German shepherd and golden retriever mix

Leo is a male German shepherd and golden retriever mix currently housed at Beyond Rescue.

Leo plays well with others — he gets along well with other dogs. His vaccinations are already up to date and he is neutered. He has mastered his house-training etiquette.

Here's what Leo's friends at Beyond Rescue think of him:

Leo is a super smart bundle of curiosity and love. Favorite activities include catch, playing tug, rolling in the grass, learning new tricks and playing with his dog buddies. This treat-oriented pup already knows tons of commands and hand signals, including shake, go to bed, watch me, roll over and high five. This guy needs plenty of exercise. He likes hiking and the beach is his happiest place of all. Older kids are best for him, and he enjoys the company of older, confident dogs (not puppies) who are properly introduced. Leo loves his people, loves to give kisses and loves to play.

Daisy, pug and pit bull terrier mix

Daisy is a sweet female pug and pit bull terrier mix currently residing at Wonder Dog Rescue.

Daisy loves other dogs. Have no fear: She is already house-trained. Her vaccinations are up to date, and she's spayed.

Daisy's current caretakers say:

Daisy is a 3-year-old brindle pug/chihuahua/pit bull mix, approximately 20 pounds. Daisy is incredibly sweet and the definition of a lap dog — she loves cuddling with her parents and will curl up on your lap all day if you let her. Daisy has been brought on hikes, to the beach, to equestrian barns, to offices and other high-interaction areas and handled them with grace. She loves playing fetch and running, but is generally low-energy and is content sleeping in the corner of a room for hours.

Casey, Pomeranian and chihuahua mix

Casey is an adorable female Pomeranian and chihuahua mix staying at Grateful Dogs Rescue.

Casey loves to socialize — she'll get along great with your cats and dogs. She is already house-trained. She has been vaccinated and spayed.

Notes from Casey's caretakers:

Casey is a gentle, older dog that asks for little more than a warm lap, comfy bed, sunny spots throughout the home and love. She is around 10 years old. She’s quite tiny weighing about 6 pounds. Casey loves to wander about the garden sniffing every leaf  and she doesn’t even expect walks. She has a stiff back, so her activity level is low. Casey is interested in other dogs and might enjoy another mellow pup to just quietly spend hours doing nothing. Nothing but loving life and chilling out.
