Here are some notable incidents in SFPD's Central District since our last biweekly recap. The district encompasses Chinatown; the Financial District; the Embarcadero; Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills; North Beach and Union Square.

Man attacked with planters and bottles in broad daylight

A 50-year-old man was injured in an altercation on the 100 block of Romolo Place in North Beach on June 30 at 10:33 a.m. 

A male and a female suspect, both in their 20s, allegedly used planters and bottles to attack the victim before fleeing.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his head. It's not clear if he was transported for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect brandishes gun, robs man at midday

A 24-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on June 29 at 12:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Montgomery Street (between Bush and Pine) in the FiDi.

According to police reports, a male suspect, 25-30, flashed a gun and took the victim's smartphone before fleeing the scene. A second unidentified suspect may have been connected to the incident as well. No injuries were reported.

2 men assault and rob woman in her home

On June 29 at 9:45 p.m., a 41-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint in her home by two male suspects, 25-30, on the 800 block of Post Street in Lower Nob Hill. 

After the two suspects entered the woman's home, one of them threatened and assaulted her before taking her wallet and cellphone. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but refused medical treatment. 

3 suspects attack man in Chinatown

A 48-year-old man was assaulted in Chinatown, near the corner of Grant Avenue and Jackson Street, on June 29 at 9:45 p.m.

Three male suspects between the ages of 20 and 50 attacked the victim and then fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Woman injured in purse snatching

A 54-year-old woman was robbed by a male suspect in his early 20s on the 2200 block of Mason Street in North Beach on June 29 at 2:30 p.m.

According to police, the suspect snatched the victim's purse from her arm and fled the scene on foot. The woman was injured during the incident, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Bank robber thwarted due to silent alarm

A male suspect in his 50s was thwarted in his attempt to rob a bank on the 400 block of Sutter Street, near Union Square, on June 29 at 1:10 p.m.

After the suspect entered the bank and demanded cash, a 19-year-old woman working at the bank activated a silent alarm and told the suspect that police were on the way. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

No arrest has been made connected to the incident, and no injuries or losses were reported.

2 people pepper-sprayed during argument

On June 28 at midnight, a 32-year-old woman and a 36-year old man were pepper-sprayed by a male suspect, 39, following an argument on the 500 block of Broadway in North Beach.

The suspect was taken into custody, and the victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.

Man assaulted and robbed during early morning hours

A robbery occurred on the 600 block of Taylor Street (between Sutter and Post streets) in Lower Nob Hill on June 27 at 2:30 a.m. 

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was approached by a man in his early 20s, who punched him and covered his face while a second male suspect took the victim's wallet, cash, a necklace and two cellphones. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.

The victim reported being injured in the incident, but refused medical treatment.

Hot prowler snags bike

A hot prowl burglar entered a home on the 900 block of Green Street (between Taylor and Jones streets) in Russian Hill on June 26 at 1:12 a.m. 

The 34-year-old male victim was sleeping when the suspect, a man in his 20s, broke into the home through the front door, stole a bicycle and then fled.

One suspect arrested after fleeing possible shooting

Police responded to calls of shots fired on June 23 at 10:17 p.m. near the intersection of Beach and Jones streets in Fisherman's Wharf. 

When officers arrived, two suspects attempted to flee the scene in a sedan, but crashed nearby. Both then attempted to flee on foot, but officers were able to arrest one of the suspects, a 17-year-old male.
