The former Braindrops storefront at 1560 Haight St. has been vacant since the tattooist closed its doors for good earlier this year. Now, there's a prospective retail tenant for the space: secondhand clothing retailer 2nd Street.

Headquartered in Japan, where it has over 500 locations, 2nd Street started expanding to the U.S. last year. It now has three brick-and-mortar stores in southern California; the proposed Haight store would be its first in Northern California.

In terms of the street's sartorial landscape, 2nd Street's offerings would orbit somewhere near those of Crossroads Trading. But because it has more than 11 locations worldwide, it will first need to clear the hurdle of obtaining a conditional use permit under the city's formula retail laws.

This coming Wednesday, July 10 at 7 p.m., neighbors are welcome to attend a Planning Department-facilitated meeting at 1560 Haight to offer their feedback on the proposed store.

According to city planning documents, no major physical alterations to the space are expected.
