New Vietnamese eatery Bac Lieu Restaurant debuts in Bernal HeightsPhoto: Cherylynn N./Yelp

A new eatery named for a coastal province in south Vietnam has opened up shop in Bernal Heights. The new addition, called Bac Lieu Restaurant, replaces Lotus Garden at 3216 Mission St. (at Valencia).

Look for traditional Vietnamese fare like soup, noodles and rice platters. The menu features bánh khot (savory mini shrimp pancakes), banh hoi nem nuong xien (a woven rice noodle sheet and grilled pork skewers)  and bún mam (fermented fish soup). Explore the full menu here.

Bac Lieu Restaurant has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of 15 reviews on Yelp.

Jeffrey H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 30, wrote, "I love that there's a place now that serves bun mam that reminds me of the stuff I would eat growing up. For those who are unfamiliar, it's a fish/seafood noodle soup with hints of lemongrass."

Yelper Kimmie H. added, "Fresh and cooked to order, well-marinaded meats and authentic tasty soup broths. Glad this spot ensures the quality and authenticity to their food, unlike many Asian restaurants. Not to mention great service."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Bac Lieu Restaurant is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekends.
