Saint Paul-based fintech and agtech company Traive has secured $1.3 million in seed funding, according to company database Crunchbase, topping the city’s recent funding headlines. The cash infusion was announced July 5 and financed by The Syndicate Fund.

According to its Crunchbase profile, "Traive is an ag-fintech that unlocks credit to farmers by connecting them to lenders and providing ML-based credit risk assessment and monitoring. Traive brings farmers state-of-the-art technology to offer a novel and fair credit risk assessment, opening the door for affordable funding for their businesses. For lenders, Traive provides a differentiated analysis applied over alternative farming and individual data, while allowing access to a much larger and diversified portfolio of borrowers."

The one-year-old startup also raised a pre-seed round in 2018.

Over the past year, three Saint Paul-based agriculture and farming companies have secured venture funding, totaling $1.8 million in new investment to the local industry.

In other local funding news, consumer company Reflection Sciences announced a $1.3 million seed funding round on June 12.

According to Crunchbase, "Reflection Sciences provides training and tools for assessing executive function skills in early childhood and across the lifespan. Executive function (EF) refers to neurocognitive skills, such as attention, working memory, self-control, and cognitive flexibility, that are involved in goal-directed problem solving. These are essential life skills that provide a foundation for learning and adaptation in a wide range of contexts."

Founded in 2014, the company has raised two previous rounds, including a $775,000 angel round in 2018.
