We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which local businesses have been getting outsized attention this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Las Vegas businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Birria El Compa
Open since November 2018, this Mexican spot is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Mexican" on Yelp.
Citywide, Mexican spots saw a median 4.2% increase in new reviews over the past month, but Birria El Compa saw a staggering 135.7% increase, with a slight downward trend from a 4.5-star rating a month ago to four stars today. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Birria El Compa's review count increased by more than 210%.
It's not the only trending outlier in the Mexican category: Leticia's Cocina & Cantina has seen a 14.5% increase in reviews, and Ben'Zaa Cantina de Oaxaca has seen a 14.2% bump.

While businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp saw a median 2.3% increase in new reviews over the past month, Carnitas y Tortas Ahogadas Guadalajara bagged an 11.1% increase in new reviews within that time frame, maintaining a strong 4.5-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining five times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.
Good Pie
Good Pie is also making waves with its second Vegas location at 725 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Suite 140, in the Arts District. The popular pizza spot has seen an 8.4% bump in new reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 3% for all businesses tagged "Pizza" on Yelp. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Good Pie's review count increased by more than 290%.
Good Pie offers Brooklyn-style pizzas and classic New York street-style slices. Signature pizzas feature sauce, mozzarella, pecorino and Parmesan cheeses. Over the past month, the pizzeria has maintained a healthy 4.5-star rating among Yelpers.
