On Saturday, a 48-year-old man was struck by an SUV driver in a hit-and-run collision at 16th and Bryant streets, police said Monday.

The victim was walking on Bryant Street when the collision occurred at 12:54 p.m. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of Monday, the victim remains hospitalized in life-threatening condition.

"We do not have suspect information at this time," San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Adam Lobsinger said.

Lobsinger said that additional details, such as whether the victim was in a crosswalk, on the sidewalk or somewhere else at the time of the crash, are still under investigation.

The intersection of 16th and Bryant streets is identified as a high-injury corridor under the city's Vision Zero plan, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2024. Several buses stop in the busy intersection near the Safeway parking lot and the Franklin Square soccer field.

As we reported earlier today, the collision occurred hours before 79-year-old Hui Jun Yang of San Francisco was killed after being struck by a driver while walking at Fifth and Market streets.
