A new neighborhood wine bar has debuted in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to Prospect Heights, called LaLou, is located at 581 Vanderbilt Ave.

Taking over for Korean cafe Tygershark, the new business preserves that spot's open-kitchen design and offers a wide selection of natural wines from Europe and California. The wine bar comes courtesy of restaurateur and renowned sommelier Joe Campanale and Dave Foss, the former Anfora wine buyer, according to its website. The concise menu of contemporary small and large plates includes zucchini escabeche, cobia tartare and  spaghettini with chickpeas.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 18 reviews on Yelp so far, LaLou is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Cindy L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 2, wrote, "Top notch all around. Will be back soon for more drinks and food. So excited about this new neighborhood gem."

And Salome H. added, "The bibb lettuce salad was a big favorite — so simple and light. We also loved the gnocchi. It's delicate yet hearty, and I could have eaten another bowl of it."

Head on over to check it out: LaLou is open from 5 –11 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and from 5 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday.)
