A new cidery, beer bar and specialty food spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Locust Cider & Brewing, the new arrival is located at 2820 Alki Ave. SW in West Seattle.

The founders of Locusts Cider & Brewing focus on localized brewing methods, crafting their ciders from cull apples — which are unsuitable for grocery stores due to shape and size. Cider flavors include dark cherry, honey pear, vanilla bean, mojito and New England amber.

The taproom also offers Uli's sausages, as well as ginger molasses cookies, garlic nuts and honey barbecue chips. The kid-friendly brewery also features retro video games.

Locust Cider & Brewing Alki Beach has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Frank B. wrote, “Wow, some of the best ciders I've tasted in ages. Nothing better than sipping tasty beverages and watching the action on Alki as the sun sets in the evening.”

And Bryan H. added, "Excellent addition to Alki. Great cider, great location and tons of old school Nintendo games."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Locust Cider & Brewing is open from 1 p.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, noon–10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon–9 p.m. on Sunday.
