Westwood is a country-themed bar and restaurant, serving a dinner menu of updated American favorites. Try the sloppy joe sliders, the Caesar salad with charred romaine, the country-fried prime rib with truffles or the seafood mac and cheese.

Westwood boasts an extensive selection of whiskeys, and on the cocktail list, you will find whiskey sours, a habanero-infused margarita and more. There's even a mechanical bull inside for guests to ride.

Yelpers are excited about Westwood, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of 28 reviews on the site.

Joel J., who reviewed the restaurant on July 14, wrote, "The bartenders made me a very tasty Manhattan, and I enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich. And yes, me and my friends all took turns riding the bull. Definitely looking forward to visiting this place again!"

Yelper Ari C. wrote, "If you like country and cowboys, this is the place for you."

Westwood is open from 5 p.m.–midnight on Wednesday and Thursday and from 5 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday-Tuesday.)

The Showdown

1268 Grant Ave., North Beach

The Showdown is a pub, offering local craft beer on draft and casual eats like burgers and sandwiches.

As we previously reported, The Showdown is the latest venture from The Pour Guys, the bar group that's also behind SoMa's The Tempest/Box Kitchen and Louie's, as well as Potrero Hill's Connecticut Yankee. The Showdown is not to be confused with Sixth Street bar Showdown, which closed up in 2017 — the two bars had completely different ownership.

The kitchen at this vintage-style bar — complete with pool table — is open late and serves up sandwiches like a tomato and burrata, a Thai chicken banh mi, and the Pantera Smash Burger, made with two wagyu beef patties. There are snacks and starters like pork rinds and potato skins, too.

The Showdown currently holds five stars out of 21 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.

Yelper Ubique K., who reviewed the business on July 12, wrote, "The Showdown is really one-of-a-kind in the North Beach scene."

Kevin B. added, "This is my kind of bar — craft cocktails, great drink specials, pool table, yummy pub grub, lively music. All of this brought to you by the good folks behind Tempest (another cool spot)."

The Showdown is open from noon–2 a.m. daily.
