We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to discover which local businesses have been on the tips of diners' tongues this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Sacramento businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Kodaiko Ramen & Bar
Open since August, this bar, which offers ramen and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Bars" on Yelp.
Citywide, bars saw a median 1.3% increase in new reviews over the past month, but Kodaiko Ramen & Bar saw a striking 614.3% increase, maintaining a strong four-star rating throughout. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Kodaiko Ramen & Bar's review count increased by more than 1,430%.
Located at 718 K St. in downtown Sacramento, Kodaiko Ramen & Bar offers small plates such as hiyayakko (tofu, sweet corn and radish) and karaage (Japanese fried chicken with mayo), as well as ramen and donburi.

Huckleberry's
Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Natomas Crossing's Huckleberry's, the well-established breakfast and brunch spot is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp saw a median 1.5% increase in new reviews over the past month, Huckleberry's bagged an 8.3% increase in new reviews within that time frame, maintaining a mixed 3.5-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 3.3 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.
Open at 2580 Arena Blvd., Suite B100, since July 2018, Huckleberry's offers breakfast, brunch and lunch fare. Look out for popular menu options such as chicken and waffles for breakfast and a shrimp po'boy for lunch.

Revival at The Sawyer
Downtown Sacramento's Revival at The Sawyer is also making waves. Open since October 2017, at 500 J St., the well-established lounge and New American spot has seen a 4.7% bump in new reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 1.2% for all businesses tagged "American (New)" on Yelp. Moreover, on a month-to-month basis Revival at The Sawyer's review count increased by more than 330%.
There's more than one hot spot trending in Sacramento's New American category: Yard House has seen a 4.7% increase in reviews, and Jimboy's Tacos and Crawdads On The River have seen 2.7 and 1% increases, respectively.
Revival at The Sawyer offers fare such as lobster corn dogs, beer battered fries and shrimp tacos, and a wide array of alcoholic beverages.
Over the past month, it's maintained a mixed three-star rating among Yelpers.
Revival at The Sawyer is open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Tuesday-Thursday and 4 p.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
Dickey's Barbecue Pit
RP - Sports Complex's Dickey's Barbecue Pit is the city's buzziest traditional American spot by the numbers.
The popular traditional American and Southern spot, which offers barbecue and more and opened at 4630 Natomas Blvd. in April 2013, increased its new review count by 2.9% over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median new review count of 1.4% for the Yelp category "American (Traditional)." It outperformed the previous month by gaining 5.5 times more reviews than expected based on past performance.
This Texas-based chain, with outposts across the country, smokes its meat on-site at each location. The menu features St. Louis-style ribs, pulled pork, Polish sausage, smoked turkey and marinated chicken. Sides include fried okra and creamed spinach. Kids eat free on Sunday.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily.
