Nonnas 1977 brings pizza and more to AstoriaPhoto: Neil H./Yelp

A new pizzeria has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 41-02 Astoria Blvd. in Astoria, the fresh addition is called Nonnas 1977.

Originally located on the Lower East Side, the pizzeria reopened in Astoria in August, after losing its Manhattan lease last year. The new spot serves the same, self-described "magic pies" — handmade, rectangular-shaped pan pizzas topped with homemade mozzarella, pulled on location daily.

Check out the Gloria, topped with sausage, roasted peppers and wild mushrooms; the Sweet Caroline, with pear, Gorgonzola and walnuts; and the Mrs. Robinson, with soppressata, feta cheese, artichokes and olives. The restaurant also serves pasta, salads, sides and a selection of "parms," from chicken cutlet to eggplant. (See the full menu here.)

The business has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

William D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Aug. 30, wrote, "We tried a variety of slices. The Stella and Angie were extremely satisfying. The crust was crisp. The ingredients all tasted fresh and top quality."

Yelper Angela T. added, "To say the pizza is delicious would not do it justice. The pizza is so good, it is like a party in your mouth."

Head on over to check it out: Nonnas 1977 is open from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
