Oakland weekend: Brian Wilson, Fury, Little Saigon Moon Festival, more

It's officially Summer for just one more weekend, and Hoodline has a selection of top events that will take you outdoors to soak up the last few drops, or bring you inside for some incredible concert events.

On Friday night, the legendary Brian Wilson and iconic British rock group The Zombies will perform at Fox Theater, along with special guests. On Friday and Saturday night, Fury, a dance performance based on "Mad Max: Fury Road" is in town under a big top tent on Telegraph Ave in Oakland.

If getting outside is your thing, on Saturday, attend the Little Saigon Moon Festival & Night Market. To complete your weekend, on Sunday the Rockridge Out & About Festival is back for its 13th year, and the Oakland Grand Prix offers a chance to catch some thrilling bike races.

Famed musician and Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson, the creative force behind iconic hits like "Good Vibrations"and "California Girls", will take the stage Friday night at Fox Theater. He'll be joined by iconic British rock group The Zombies, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. They'll perform alongside special guests Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin. The tour, "Something Great from 68' and beyond", celebrates music from the late 60's and early 70's.

Fury at Tortona Big Top Oakland

Fury, a multimedia dance performance based on "Mad Max: Fury Road", is coming to Oakland under a big top tent on Telegraph Ave. This one-of-a-kind concert event features a live score by indie pop band YASSOU, immersive visuals, and choreography by Danielle Rowe, developed by dancers from San Francisco Ballet and Alonzo King Lines Ballet. Fury is in town for two nights.  

When: Friday - Saturday, September 13 - September 14, 7 p.m.

Oakland Little Saigon Moon Festival & Night Market

The Little Saigon Moon Festival and Night Market takes place in Clinton Park in Oakland this Saturday. The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is one of the two most popular festivals in Vietnam and China, celebrating the first full moon after the Autumn harvest. The event, organized by the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce in Oakland, will include activities for kids, mooncake, lantern giveaways and more. The festival will also feature a fashion show, DJs and plenty of cheap eats.

When: Saturday, September 14, 2 - 9 p.m.

Where: Clinton Park, 6th Ave & International Blvd.

13th Annual Rockridge Out & About Festival

The Rockridge District Association hosts the 13th Annual Rockridge Out & About festival on Sunday. The family-friendly festival provides an opportunity to shop local, eat, mingle, enjoy music and more in Oakland's historic Rockridge neighborhood.

When: Sunday, September 15, 12 - 6 p.m.

Where: College Ave from Claremont to Lawton (eight blocks)

Oakland Grand Prix

The Oakland Grand Prix this Sunday is a chance for cyclists to show their skills in 10 different categories. According to event organizers, the event has been described as NASCAR on bikes, but we'd like to think of it as the Tour De France in Oakland. The event is an opportunity to see Team Oakland cycling in action, plus a whole lot more along the route.

When: Sunday, September 15, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Where: Franklin St. & 21 St. (Close to 19th Street Bart)

Price: Free to watch (no registration required)/Prices vary to race (registration closes on September 11th at 11:59 p.m. PT)
