Oakland weekend: Oakland Cocktail Week, OMCA 50th Birthday, Eat Real Festival, more

We compiled an eclectic list of events around the Town for this weekend. Kick it off on Thursday with some laughs at Fox Theater with comedian Tom Segura. Starting on Friday celebrate Oakland Museum of California's (OMCA) 50th birthday and Oakland Cocktail Week. Other events include a 90's bar crawl and the Eat Real Festival at Jack London Square.

Famed stand-up comedian, podcaster and actor Tom Segura will bring his latest material to Fox Theater on Thursday night in the latest stop on his "Take It Down" tour. The comedian is known for his Netflix specials "Disgraceful", "Mostly Stories" and "Completely Normal". Segura has appeared on shows like The Late Night Show with Conan O'Brien and more. His podcast "Your Mom's House" is a project he co-hosts with his wife, comedian Christina Pazsitzky.

OMCA’s 50th Birthday Celebration

This weekend marks OMCA's 50th birthday. Celebrate with Oakland's leading museum by visiting with your friends and family at a reduced admission rate of $5.

The birthday celebration starts on Friday from 5 - 10 p.m. with entertainment, birthday card making, a kids zone, photo opportunities, exhibits and more. On Saturday and Sunday, the public can visit exhibits, take a "Meet the Museum" tour, and win free giveaways.

Price: Free Friday 5-10 p.m., $5 admission all weekend

Oakland Cocktail Week

Oakland Cocktail Week is back, with a cocktail passport offering discounts on special drinks. Participating bars and restaurants will offer special cocktails for a fraction of the cost starting Friday, September 20 through next Sunday, September 29. The Town Cocktail Passport is $7, and you can collect stickers, receive over $50 in drink savings, enter a raffle and win prizes.

The list of participating venues is lengthy, and includes The Terrace Room, Spice Monkey Restaurant & Bar, and Plank Oakland. You can also buy tickets to special Oakland Cocktail Week events including the kick-off festivities, a drunken film festival and much more.

90’s Bar Crawl: Oakland

If you're a 1980s baby or simply love the 1990s, here's your chance to celebrate the era of mix tapes, scrunchies,and stonewash jeans while having a few drinks over 90s music, starting at The Ruby Room.  With admission, you'll receive a color changing cup, reduced priced drinks and events including a bar crawl and costume contest.

Eat Real Festival at Jack  London Square

A two-day healthy food event called Eat Real Festival is back for another round at Jack London Square. Top off the weekend at this health-conscious festival featuring food vendors who use fresh and local ingredients.  Attendees can attend cooking classes, see food demos and dance to local DJs. This event is family friendly.
