Olde Towne East gets a new beer gardenPhoto: J R./Yelp

There's a brand-new beer garden in town. Located at 734 Oak St. in Olde Town East, the arrival is called Gemüt Biergarten.

Housed in a former firehouse, Gemüt Biergarten offers such shared plates as flammkuchen (creme fraiche, caramelized onion, arugula, cambozola and gruyere) and brezel (beer cheese, beet jam and grainy mustard), while its beer offerings include the craft brewer's own Alfheim Hefeweizen and Woden's Hunk Dunkel, along with wine and cocktails. Outside seating is available both in front of and behind the building, with the latter area including a playground.

Gemüt Biergarten has garnered mixed reviews thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of 10 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Doug P. wrote, “Love this new spot. They've spared no expense with the build out. Tastefully done. I've only had their hefeweizen so far, which was excellent. It's clear that the entire staff is enthusiastic and cares about everyone's experience.”

And Helen D. wrote, "Our favorite thing about this place is the atmosphere. There are two bars, one inside and one outside, and it's a great spot to enjoy some good beer and nice weather. My only complaint is that the food portion sizes are a bit small for the price, but it tasted great!"

Gemüt Biergarten is open 11 a.m.–midnight Tuesday through Sunday (it's closed on Monday), so swing on by to take a peek.
