It's time for your Park District crime report, including incidents in the Upper and Lower Haight. Apart from the standard fare of warrant arrests and citations for possession or sale of narcotics, here's what's new.

Robbery at gunpoint

At 2:30 a.m., September 17th on the 400 block of Waller (at Fillmore), a single assailant with a gun held up a 51-year-old man and stole his cell phone, wallet, and backpack. The suspect fled eastbound on Waller, and no arrest was made.

Arson in a front doorway

Shortly before 1 a.m. on September 10th, at the 100 block of Belvedere (at Waller), a victim of an apparent arson responded to a fire on his front porch. The door mat, door, and stair railing were destroyed, and no suspect was apprehended.

Vehicle-assisted robbery

At 1 p.m. on September 6th, at Fulton and Central streets, a woman was walking westbound on Fulton Street when she was approached from behind and had her cell phone snatched. The suspect, who was not apprehended, ran to a waiting gray 4-door and escaped.

Arson in Buena Vista Park

On the morning of August 31, SFPD responded to reports of an individual starting fires inside Buena Vista Park at Haight and Buena Vista. The suspect was apprehended and arrested at the scene.

The arrest followed another incident at 1 a.m. on August 29, when officers responded to arson in Buena Vista Park but made no arrest.

Even with the arrest, neighbors have issued an alert and are asking for vigilance in the park in the wake of the fires.
