A new restaurant is coming soon to Cow Hollow. A creation from Back of the House (the team behind Super Duper and a Mano), it’s called Wildseed and its menu will consist entirely of plant-based food.

The restaurant will debut later this month in the former Belga space at 2000 Union St. (which closed for business on September 1).

Back of the House’s Founder and CEO Adriano Paganini said while Belga was doing well, he wanted to fill an existing void and “resonate more strongly with the community."

“In this iconic setting on a landmark corner with wraparound windows and views onto bustling Union Street, we have an opportunity to provide this neighborhood with a fun and sexy restaurant that will satisfy everyone regardless of diet,” said Paganini. “Given the scarcity of plant-based dining options in the city, and timeliness in regards to current social movements around health and wellness, we see this concept being very successful.”

While food menus haven’t yet been released, Paganini hinted that they will offer a full bar that features cocktails made with fresh, sustainable and seasonal ingredients. Additionally, all wines will be local, organic, vegan and biodynamic.

Follow Wildseed on Facebook for updates on its menu offerings and official opening date.

Closures

Chez Marius (4063 24th St.)

Tipster Gray M. has alerted us that Chez Marius has closed at 4063 24th St. (between Noe and Castro). Yelp and Open Table confirm the closure, but we haven’t been able to get in touch with the owner for further details.

In March of 2016, we spoke with restaurant owner Laurent Legendre — also the proprietor of Glen Park’s Le P’tit Laurent  — as he was getting ready to open. It was his fourth restaurant in San Francisco since he moved here over two decades ago.

The menu at Chez Marius had a Provencal, south of France focus, including ratatouille and bouillabaisse, among other popular French dishes.

Mission

Piri Pica (590 Valencia St.)

Portuguese-style restaurant Piri Pica suddenly shuttered last week at 590 Valencia St. A day after the closure, eviction notices were posted on its exterior.

Restaurant co-owner Khalid Mushasha told Mission Local that the eatery, which opened a year ago (September 2018), was unable to sustain itself on Valencia Street.

“At this time, the business wasn’t sustainable,” Mushasha said. “We did an educated decision to close the business.”

Co-founded by Telmo Faria, the chef behind Noe Valley Portuguese restaurant Uma Casa, the Valencia eatery focused on five types of chicken: mild, zesty lemon-herb, spicy and extra-spicy. Birds were available by the whole, half, or quarter, in addition to grilled chicken breasts, shrimp skewers, and a variety of entree salads and chicken sandwiches.
