New Indian spot The Gully debuts in Astoria

A new Indian and Bangladeshi spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Called The Gully, the new arrival is located at 25-45 Steinway St. in Astoria.

The Gully specializes in South Asian street food and other classic dishes. Stop in for kati rolls and chaat, as well as curries and biryanis with choices of chicken, lamb, shrimp or veggies. The Gully also offers comfort food crossovers, like its chicken tikka macaroni and cheese and the lamb burger with a cilantro garlic aioli. To drink, there's chai and lassi, and the menu also includes halal and vegan-friendly options.

With a four-star rating out of 35 reviews on Yelp so far, The Gully is getting solid feedback from clientele.

Anonna C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 2, wrote, "The food is exceptional. The Dahi Puri, Chicken tikka macaroni and cheese, lamb burger and chicken tikka Kathi roll are my favorite dishes. I love everything on the menu and have no complaints. Gully has taken average home-cooked food and elevated it to a dynamite eating experience that's filled with culture and memories. I highly recommend everyone try it out."

Interested? The Gully is open from 1–10:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday and from 1–11:30 p.m. on Friday-Sunday.
