After over 20 years in the Haight, X-Generation, which has long focused on offering affordable, casual women's wear, is slated to join the ranks of businesses closing up shop in the neighborhood.

Braindrops, a tattoo and piercing parlor that also had two decades under its belt, departed Haight Street earlier this year, citing economic constraints, and the Haight Ashbury Music Center is on the cusp of winding down after 40 years.

X-Generation's original shop, at 1606 Haight Street, closed over a year ago and remains vacant. Now its remaining outpost (1401 Haight St.) is being advertised for lease, and discounting remaining items on the rack.

An employee we spoke with said the plan was to remain open for business through the end of December, and then wind down operations formally.

The shop will consolidate its business into sister store Audrey (1034 Valencia St.), which was originally launched as a focused spin-off of the retailer's two Upper Haight locations. Audrey also operates the Los Angeles-based women's line Audrey 3+1 as a wholesaling operation.

Audrey's operating manager wasn't available for immediate comment.
