6 lovable kitties to adopt now in San FranciscoPhotos: Petfinder

Interested in adopting a pet — or just taking a peek at some cute kitties? There are dozens of deserving cats up for adoption at animal shelters in and around San Francisco.

Animal shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of cats currently available for adoption.

(Details like pet availability, training, vaccinations and other features are based on data provided by Petfinder and may be subject to change; contact the shelter for the latest information.)

Bobby, tabby and domestic longhair mix

Bobby is a lovable male tabby and domestic longhair mix being kept at Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue.

Bobby is looking for a dog-free forever home. He's already house-trained, has had all of his shots, and is neutered.

More about Bobby:

I was originally rescued by some "furiends" at SNAP Cats. You see, I was attacked by a dog, and my tail was lame. The shelter in Clear Lake said I was unadoptable. Lucky for me, SNAP Cats took me in and now my tail is healed. Pawesome! Recently, Give Me Shelter needed some help with a mobility-challenged cat, which SNAP Cats specializes in. They took the other kitty, and now I get to find my home through Give Me Shelter. I love love love to play and have a ton of energy.

Paprika, Siamese

Paprika is a darling female Siamese cat staying at Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue.

No need to worry: She's already house-trained. Paprika is spayed and vaccinated.

More about Paprika:

I was born outside with my brothers Sesame and Basil, but my foster mom decided to give me a chance at being an indoor cat when I was already four months old. I'm glad she did, because I turned out great. I love to play, I like being pet and I love to sleep with people on the bed. I'm still a little bit shy, but I'm doing really well and would love a home that continues to help me grow into a confident cat. I also have very unique and delicate coloring and am soft as a marshmallow.

Graby is neutered, and he has had all his shots. He is already house-trained.

Graby's current caretakers say:

Graby (pronounced gray-by) is a long-haired tabby who is quite social, very curious and super playful. He likes meeting new people and likes just about everyone, including kids. Graby enjoys watching TV, loafing around on any surface, and likes to jump in the bathtub and laundry basket. He is part of a bonded pair with his best friend, Booty, and we are looking for a home that can keep them together.

Booty, calico

Booty is a female calico cat being cared for at Wonder Cat Rescue.

Good news: She's already house-trained, vaccinated and spayed.

Notes from Booty's caretakers:

Booty is a short-haired calico. She can be a little shy at first, but once she warms up, she is so loving, loyal and affectionate. She's known to chirp and isn't shy about brushing up against you when she wants cuddles. Booty is a little goofy and playful, chases her tail for minutes at a time and even comes when she's called.
