Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition since our last roundup in early October. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Shots fired at night

On October 31 at 12:56 a.m., police responded to a ShotSpotter activation at Grove and Buchanan streets. Officers located spent casings, but could not find any suspects. There was no report of any injuries or damages.

Laptop, phone robbery at gunpoint

On October 29 at 8:10 p.m., a man aged between 20 and 25 robbed a 33-year-old man on the 200 block of Linden St. (between Gough and Franklin). The suspect held the victim at gunpoint and took his phone, laptop and earbuds before fleeing on foot. No arrest has been made.

Burglar enters through unlocked door

On October 14 around 3 a.m., an unknown suspect was able to enter a home on the 200 block of Buchanan (between Waller and Haight) through an unlocked door. The victim, a 35-year-old man, awoke to find his phone, a tool kit and a skateboard had been stolen. No arrest has been made.

Bullets damage building

Another ShotSpotter activation occurred on October 12 at 8:17 a.m., on the 600 block of Grove Street (between Laguna and Buchanan). Officers located a spent casing, and also noticed some damage to a building from the bullets. No suspect was found.

Public safety meeting

The Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association invites residents to its monthly public safety meeting tonight, November 4. Topics will include crimes against merchants, and a chance to meet the new SFPD beat officers from Northern Station.

Merchants will also have the opportunity to hear from SF Safe about the services they provide, including business security assessments and trainings in topics like shoplifting prevention and personal safety for employees. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Korean American Center (745 Buchanan St.)

Northern Station monthly community meeting

Residents interested in learning more about crime and safety in the area are invited to attend SFPD Northern Station's monthly community meeting, held at the station (1125 Fillmore St.) at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place next week, October 13.
