Dumpling Park to open in former Howard's space at 9th & JudahPhotos: Teresa Hammerl/Hoodline

Hoodline tipster Brian S. alerts us that Dumpling Park is set to open in the former Howard's Cafe space at 1309 9th Ave. (and Judah) in the Inner Sunset. "Sign just went up," Brian wrote, adding that work has been going on inside since Howard's shuttered.

As we reported in October, long-standing breakfast joint and neighborhood fixture Howard's closed up shop without warning after more than five decades in the neighborhood.

No additional details were immediately available about Dumpling Park, as the number on Dumpling Park's new awning (featuring the slogan "Never Stop Exploring") was not in service yet. Nobody was available when a Hoodline reporter stopped by. However, we found parts of the interior, including some seating, were already complete.

A permit to remodel the dining area and add a new service area, a new ADA-accessible restroom, and a new HVAC system for $60,000 was issued on November 19, city records show.

According to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control it appears that Howard's liquor license has not yet been transferred to a new owner.
