Today's your last chance to get a delicious, hot wiener on Castro Street.

After five years in the Castro, premium hot dog shop Dapper Dog (417 Castro St.) is closing. Tipsters Christopher V. and Tom M. alerted us that today is the shop's last day.

A sign in the window from owner Bassel Khoury thanks customers for their patience. Khoury did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Khoury opened Dapper Dog in 2015, in the former Bead Shop location. Its menu focused on a variety of different hot dogs, hamburgers and sides.

"I spent a lot of time crafting the menu to accommodate a spectrum of flavor and taste profiles," Khoury told Hoodline in 2015.

The closure of Dapper Dog comes at difficult time for Castro retailers and restaurants. Numerous neighborhood businesses have closed in the past year, including men's clothing store Body, which is on the same block.

Next door to Dapper Dog, 415 Castro St. has been vacant for over five years, since discount sunglass shop 'Sunglasses on Castro' closed.

In his note to customers, Khoury writes that "it has been a great pleasure to meet, serve, and get to know all of you."

"We are deeply grateful for your patronage and support over the years, and we will always look back at our time here fondly."
