A motorcyclist was killed in the Mission District on Sunday after being struck by a motorist.
Police said the collision occurred around 4:45 p.m. on the 1800 block of Mission Street (at 14th), near the San Francisco Armory. The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
“The other involved party remained on scene and is cooperating with our investigation,” said SFPD spokesperson Ofc. Adam Lobsinger.
The intersection has been identified as a high-injury corridor under the city's Vision Zero plan, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2024.
Police have confirmed motorcycle driver is dead. Crash on Mission Street between 14th and 15th, San Francisco. I regularly see drivers going 50mph here. Automated speed enforcement might have saved this life. #trafficviolence pic.twitter.com/pgikvNmgLs
