Topping the list is Rose's Luxury. Located at 717 Eighth St. SE in Capitol Hill, it is the most popular high-end Italian restaurant in Washington, boasting 4.5 stars out of 1,932 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Patrick L., who reviewed Rose's Luxury on Jan. 16, wrote, "One of the best restaurants in D.C. Tremendous value, great service and creative cuisine."

Janice H. noted, "It has a Michelin star and I can see why because the quality was excellent. ... The standouts were the following: lychee cocktails; lychee salad: we loved the flavor combination of the lychee, pork sausage, habanero and peanuts; hand-shaped farfalle: well-made pasta with the perfect al dente texture."

2. Tail Up Goat

Adams Morgan's Tail Up Goat, located at 1827 Adams Mill Road NW, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the restaurant and bar 4.5 stars out of 654 reviews.

Yelper Jen C., who reviewed Tail Up Goat on Jan. 4, wrote, "Insanely good meal. So many cocktails and drinks to choose from. Menu is small but creative and has something for everyone. Favorites: salted cod appetizer, scallop appetizer, pork pasta and all desserts."

Lemon C. wrote, "My first Michelin star dining experience. ... They provided a marked-up menu for those with dietary restrictions, which was nice. The focaccia spanakopita was delicious. The ricotta cavatelli with pistachio pesto was embarrassingly small."

3. RPM Italian

And RPM Italian in Mount Vernon Square is another high-traffic, pricey go-to, with four stars out of 1,135 Yelp reviews. Head over to 650 K St. NW to see for yourself.

The site can tell you a thing or two more about RPM Italian.

"The sister restaurant to RPM Steak, RPM Italian marks the first collaboration between partners RJ, Jerrod and Molly Melman, celebrity couple Bill and Giuliana Rancic and acclaimed chef Doug Psaltis."

Furthermore, we found this about the business' signature items: "At the center of RPM Italian's menu lay more than a dozen house-made pastas prepared daily in signature dishes like Mama DePandi's bucatini pomodoro and squid ink spaghetti with spicy king crab and in-season favorites like tagliolini with Vacche Rosse parmigiano and white truffles from Alba," it states on Yelp.

4. Fiola Mare

Over in Georgetown, check out Fiola Mare, which has earned four stars out of 1,075 reviews on Yelp. Treat yourself at the bar and Italian restaurant by heading over to 3050 K St. NW, Suite 101.

Yelper Larry C., who reviewed Fiola Mare on Jan. 9 wrote, "Back again for the second time and what a great meal we had: pasta dish with clams and spices, with the pasta cooked perfectly. We shared this as an appetizer. I had Nova halibut with a sauce that made me put my bread in to mop up the sauce. Baked scallops for my wife were perfect.

Yichao Y. wrote, "Seafood tower: portion is generous. Food is fresh. Tiramisu: several layer of dessert, can be shared by two people. Gragnano: Tomato taste is good. Great supplement to seafood tower if half portion is for one person."

5. Fiola

Finally, there's Fiola, a downtown favorite with four stars out of 744 reviews. Stop by 601 Pennsylvania Ave. NW to hit up the Italian restaurant and bar next time you're looking to splurge.

Yelped Brendan G. who reviewed the restaurant on Nov. 9, wrote, "What a remarkable meal. The food was just amazing, the service friendly and unpretentious, and the atmosphere energetic. ... The fall season was perfectly matched by the white truffle accompaniment for any dish."

May D. wrote, "What an amazing experience. The quality of the dishes, presentation and ingredients used were AA+. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of a few dishes. I've tasted a better foie gras dish, for example, and that was the one thing I was really looking forward to. Overall, they still deserved five stars."
