Got a hankering for coffee?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable coffee hot spots in Austin, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to fill the bill.
1. Cafe Java
Topping the list is Cafe Java. Located at 11900 Metric Blvd., Suite K, in North Burnett, the diner and breakfast and brunch spot, which offers coffee and tea and more, is the most popular affordable coffee spot in Austin, boasting 4.5 stars out of 1,069 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Kris D., who reviewed Cafe Java on Jan. 9, wrote, "The food is delicious, and the coffee changes daily. Show up one day and expect a coffee from another country the next. Finally, if you're looking for a sweet coffee filled with love, ask for The Turtle—so good!"
2. Summermoon Coffee Bar
North Burnett's outpost of the Texas chain Summermoon Coffee Bar, located at 11005 Burnet Road, Suite 112, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the inexpensive coffee roastery, which offers coffee and tea and more, 4.5 stars out of 500 reviews.
The site has lots more information about Summermoon Coffee Bar, a family owned business that has been open since June 2002.
"Inspired by the early American coffee roasters and the simplicity of their tools—brick, fire and wood—we set out to craft custom coffee roasts we can truly be proud to call our own. We designed and built our roaster from scratch and laid each and every brick by hand," the business notes in the history section of its Yelp profile
3. Revival Coffee
Revival Coffee, a food truck that offers coffee and tea and more in East Cesar Chavez, is another much-loved, low-priced go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 483 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1405 E. Seventh St. to see for yourself.
We looked there for an overview of Revival Coffee. In February, the former Vintage Heart Coffee shop came under new ownership and got a new name, according to the business' Yelp profile.
Yelper Luke L. shared, "The interior decor felt very modernized, and I even spotted a piano & a blackboard. I like [the] super simple coffee menu, and syrups (vanilla, chocolate, and lavender) are all house-made."
4. Café Crème
Over in Riverside, check out Café Crème, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 395 reviews on Yelp. Dig in at the beer bar and breakfast and brunch spot, which offers coffee and tea and more, by heading over to 1834 E. Oltorf St.
We turned there for more about Café Crème.
This locally family owned Vietnamese and French spot, you can get creative drinks—like the Creme Brûlée frap (with whip and chocolate and caramel drizzle), a dirty Chai and a Mexican hot chocolate—inspired by the owners' travels.
"We love to travel, immerse ourselves in local cultures and add that culturally diverse spirit into our café," the owners note in the history section of the business's Yelp profile.
Besides coffee, the business offers a variety of baked goods and drinks including "breakfast tacos, crepes, kolaches, beer, wine, champagne, bagels, and much more," it states on Yelp.
