Topping the list is International House of Food. Located at 1402 W. Van Buren St. in Central City, it is the highest-rated inexpensive Chinese restaurant in Phoenix, boasting 4.5 stars out of 325 reviews on Yelp.

We looked there for more about International House of Food.

"Mexican, American and Chinese food?" the business says on its Yelp profile. "Right when we started our business, an uncle in our family had no job but lots of experience at Asian cuisines, a top chef. Now, a few years later, some of his recipes are top sellers."

Fascinated so far?

"The Cruz family worked for several years in major American breakfast chains. After obtaining enough skills, they decided to open the doors of their first restaurant, IHOF, in May 2012," per the business's Yelp profile.

As to what the business is known for, "IHOF offers authentic Mexican, traditional American and Chinese food," it writes on Yelp. "We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. We also cater any type of events, so whether it's dine in, take-out, delivery, catering or hosting a private meeting or event, IHOF has everything you are looking for to accommodate your needs in one place."

Concerning signature items, "We have many specialties. Our customers love our fried rice, orange chicken and lo mein," it writes on Yelp. "We make the best egg foo young with our homemade gravy. Our best item is our spring roll and egg rolls; we sell thousands of those every week."

4. May Garden

May Garden, a Chinese buffet, is another low-priced go-to, with four stars out of 75 Yelp reviews. Head over to 5814 W. Indian School Road to see for yourself.

Yelper Cesar V., who reviewed May Garden on Nov. 12, wrote, "I've been coming here since i was a young child. The taste has never left my memory. I went back after 20 years, and my first bite was like a time machine, nothing changed. This isn't a super buffet with tons of items. This is a hole in the wall. The menu is simple but perfected. The rice is arguably the most flavorful you'll ever have."

Jada M. noted, "Don't let the outside fool you. This place is the best. I've been coming here since I was kid and it's still amazing. Great prices and great service."
