4 cool kitties to adopt now in Long Beach

Interested in adopting a cat — or just gazing at some furry felines near you? There are dozens of deserving cats up for adoption at animal shelters in and around Long Beach.

Such shelters and pet rescue groups work hard to care for unhoused pets and connect them to loving homes. Hoodline used data from Petfinder to power this roundup of cats currently available for adoption.

Calli, calico and domestic shorthair mix

Calli is a darling female calico and domestic shorthair mix staying at Zazzy Cats Kitty Rescue.

Calli is a social animal. Fear not: She's already house-trained, vaccinated and spayed.

Notes from Calli's caretakers:

Calli is very sweet and loves getting pets and rubbing against your leg. She does great around teens and adults (we have no kids around here to see what she is like with them). Calli is not a fan of dogs or other cats who are not her own babies. She is deserving of a good home and would be a wonderful companion.

Gemma, Siamese and calico mix

Gemma is a winsome female Siamese and calico mix currently housed at Zazzy Cats Kitty Rescue.

Gemma will get along great with your other cats. She's already house-trained, vaccinated and spayed.

From Gemma's current caretaker:

Gemma is the sweetest cat I have ever fostered! She had beautiful babies and Gemma was an amazing mama. She is very quiet and comely. Her cross-eyed stare will only enamor you more. Loves to lounge around and is laid back and chill. Good with kids/has never been around dogs and is OK with smaller kittens and bigger cats (if introduced properly).

Maggie May, domestic mix

Maggie May is a charming female domestic mix in the care of Jellicle Cats Rescue Foundation.

Maggie May is a social butterfly, and she's happy to keep company with other cats, dogs and children. She is spayed, has had all her shots and is house-trained.

From her current caretaker:

Maggie May is a former street cat from the south LA. However, she is a big softy at heart, and was not cut out for life on the streets. She was surrendered to us with her son, Tommy Pickles, and the two share a very close bond. She has taken some TLC to get to be the lovable weirdo that she is now. She's missing a few teeth, so her little tongue pokes out at you a lot of the time. We think we were the first hands to actually pet her, so it took some time to build up her trust. She really enjoys lap time and dinnertime. She's an older gal and needs one more dental appointment before an adoption can be finalized. But she's got so much love to give in her golden years. We would love to see her get adopted with her son, Tommy Pickles.
