Here are some notable crime incidents in SFPD's Central District since our last biweekly recap. The district encompasses Chinatown; the Financial District; the Embarcadero; Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills; North Beach and Union Square.

73-year-old woman injured in phone robbery

On April 29, a man of unknown age pushed a 73-year-old woman on Battery Street (between Market and Pine) at 6 p.m. He then grabbed her phone and fled on foot. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries, and no arrest has been made.

Man hit with skateboard in grocery bag robbery

On April 23 at 8:42 p.m., two men, aged 25 and 28, struck a 61-year-old man in the head with a skateboard on the 100 block of Jackson Street (between Davis and Battery). They then took his bag of groceries. Both suspects were arrested, and the victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Cigarettes, phone robbery at gunpoint

On April 20, a man believed to be 25-30 approached a 37-year-old man around 1 a.m. at Stockton and Union streets. He then demanded the older man's phone and cigarettes at gunpoint, before fleeing on foot with another man of the same age. The victim was uninjured, and no arrest was made.

Fire investigation

On April 18 at 12:30 p.m., a 46-year-old man used a lighter to start a small fire on the 100 block of Columbus Avenue (between Jackson and Pacific). No damage was reported and no arrest was made.

Package stolen from lobby

On April 14 at 5:30 p.m., a 46-year-old man heard a noise in the lobby of his apartment building on the 1000 block of Battery Street (between Green and Union). He then saw a man, aged between 20 and 30, run out of the building with a package intended for the victim, containing a digital router. No arrest was made.
