New breakfast and brunch spot Black Seed Cafe debuts in Point BreezePhoto: Angela G./Yelp

Looking to chow down on some breakfast and brunch fare? A new spot has you covered. Called Black Seed Cafe, the fresh addition is located at 2400 Federal St. in Point Breeze.

Black Seed Cafe serves up Southern-style cuisine crafted with organic ingredients. On the menu, look for grilled salmon with creamy grits, turkey burgers or apple cinnamon waffles.

The new cafe has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.

Tammarah S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 6, wrote, "The chicken was crispy and fried well, and the waffle was light. I got the chicken with the Thai chili sauce and it was sweet, spicy and tangy. I tried the shrimp and grits as well and it was creamy, buttery and just perfection. Best Southern soul food in the city."

Yelper Morgan H. added, “I've been craving a hearty breakfast and this place delivered. Called and placed an order for the shrimp and grits, hot sausage, fried chicken and waffles, and the breakfast burger. Every single thing is so tasty that we can't decide which is our favorite."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Black Seed Cafe is open from 6 a.m.–6 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday and 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
