This year, in-person celebrations are back, and the Bay Area is making up for lost time! Hoodline has rounded up a selection of public menorah lightings and Hanukkah events around the Bay area, many of them outdoors. San Francisco Union Square Menorah Lighting
Every day through Dec. 5
Gather for the lighting of a 25-foot menorah at 4:30 p.m. most days, 3 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. At Union Square in San Francisco. Find the full schedule at www.billgrahammenorah.org/schedule.

Fremont's 9th Annual Chanukah Lighting

Outdoor glow-in-the-dark extravaganza with DJ, glowing giant balloons, face paint, tattoos and drinks, plus surprise freebies; giant menorah lighting; and choir by JUDA children. Free event open to the entire community. Outdoors at the new Fremont Downtown Event Center, 3500 Capitol Ave, Fremont.
Menorah Lighting @ Alameda South Shore Center

Fourth Annual Menorah Lighting Event on the 4th Night of Hanukkah with bagels, jelly donuts, live music. Local dignitaries, Alameda's police and fire chiefs will be in attendance. Please consider bringing a new pair of socks to donate. At Alameda South Shore Center, 523 Mulberry St, Alameda.
Community Candlelighting at the Pruneyard in Campbell

Silicon Valley Jewish community Hanukkah celebration featuring the music of Lior Ben-Hur and Yavneh Day School students, followed by a reading of Larry’s Latkes by local PJ Library author, Jenna Waldman, and words from the mayor and vice-mayor of Campbell. Chanukah On The Lake in Oakland

The 16th annual Grand Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Lake Merritt in Oakland, featuring live music; a fire performance; hot latkes, donuts, matzoh ball soup and drinks; crafts; prizes and more. Free. Glowing Hanukkah Party Pop-Up at Ghirardelli Square

JCCSF’s Glowing Hanukkah Party is a free, family-friendly event, with candle lighting, live music, Hanukkah crafts, dreidel and games, and tasty treats from the Square merchants. At Ghirardelli Square, 900 North Point St., San Francisco.
Outdoor Menorah Lighting in San Leandro

Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose 2021 Menorahs and Miracles
Dec. 5, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
The museum and Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley (APJCC) host a celebration with candle-making, dreidel games, pre-packaged latkes, miracle scavenger hunt, songs performed by the Yavneh Day School students, a short video about Hanukkah, a parade in front of the museum to sing and light the menorah, and storytime in Hebrew, Russian and English in the Amphitheater (weather permitting).
