A man was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder by a San Mateo County jury in a stabbing incident that claimed the life of his ex-girlfriend and left her 17-year-old daughter injured. The convict, Jose Enrique Uriarte Martinez, perpetrated the violent crimes in July of last year while on felony probation. According to the San Mateo County District Attorney, the verdict was reached yesterday.

The tragic sequence of events unfolded in the early hours of July 30, 2023, when the San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies responded to desperate pleas for help from a woman at the 3200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, Redwood City. As Hoodline detailed upon their arrival, authorities found Uriarte-Martinez smeared with blood outside the premises. The officers entered the residence to view a harrowing scene, two victims with multiple stab wounds.
Despite immediate medical aid from the deputies and swift transfer to Stanford Hospital, Uriarte-Martinez's ex-girlfriend succumbed to her injuries. Her daughter, however, survived the attack. Law enforcement officials described the incident as a domestic violence case in which Uriarte-Martinez, a 44-year-old from Redwood City, was swiftly taken into custody and now remains held without bail.
