From the organizer

In celebration of their new releases, four emerging women poets and writers will read work centered around place and identity. There's no time like the present to hear the voices of all of our artists who make up the amazing tapestry of the arts community.

Join us to hear new works of four authors of prose and/or poetry.

Vanessa Hua, author of DECEIT AND OTHER POSSIBILITIES and a forthcoming novel from Ballantine, is a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle. She received a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award, the San Francisco Foundation’s James D. Phelan Award, and a Steinbeck Fellowship. Her work has appeared in The Atlantic, New York Times, ZYZZYVA, Guernica, LitHub, and elsewhere.

R. O. Kwon’s first novel, HEROICS, is forthcoming from Riverhead. She is a 2016 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellow, and her writing has been published in NOON, VICE, PLOUGHSHARES, THE BELIEVER, and TIN HOUSE. She has received awards from Yaddo, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and Sewanee Writers’ Conference.

Ashley M. Jones, author of the debut collection, MAGIC CITY GOSPEL, received an MFA in Poetry from Florida Interational University, where she was a John S. and James L. Knight Scholar. Her work has been featured by the Academy of American Poets, PMSPoemMemoirStory, Prelude, Pluck! and many other journals and anthologies in print and online. She is an editor of [PANK] Magazine, and she teaches Creative Writing at the Alabama School of Fine Arts.

Dara Barnat’s poetry, translations, and essays appear in The Cortland Review, diode, Poet Lore, Ha’aretz, Lilith, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Walt Whitman Quarterly Review, and elsewhere.
