On Saturday, August 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club (SFIAC) Foundation welcomes the Bay Area to the Festa Coloniale Italiana, a fantastic celebration of Italian and Italian-American culture, music, food and heritage in the heart of Little Italy, North Beach.
Situated along Stockton Street between Filbert and Union sts., this free, traditional Italian street festival is family orientated and showcases the SFIAC's incredible facilities, at 1630 Stockton St. The Club’s main ballroom will be transformed into an Italian piazza, accented with Vespas and Italian-themed vendors. The third floor will hold displays of Italian heritage, a history of the Carabinieri (Italy’s national law enforcement agency) and the Guardians of the City-a tribute to San Francisco's police, firefighters and other first responders (sponsored by the California Law Enforcement Columbia Association.)
Along the street, there will be additional Italian-themed vendors, a wine tasting of delicious Italian wines, mouth-watering Italian food, and live performances by Bay Area Italian musical artists and dancers. There will even be a pizza-toss demonstration!
The Festa Coloniale Italiana remains San Francisco's only Italian festival and this year’s Festa Coloniale Italiana is a precursor to the SFIAC’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2018.
