A tragic car crash in Vallejo on May 19 claimed the life of a man and left two others injured, officials said. The Vallejo Police Department is probing the collision that involved a Nissan 350Z and a Honda CRV on Curtola Parkway, according to a press release from the department.

The accident occurred late in the evening when the Nissan, barreling eastbound, slammed into the center median curb and spun out of control into the westbound lanes. The vehicle then collided head-on with an oncoming Honda. First responders arrived to find good Samaritans attempting CPR on the Nissan's driver; however, despite all efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the individuals involved have not been released and are awaiting next-of-kin notifications. The female passenger from the Nissan is presently battling life-threatening injuries at a local hospital, and the male Honda driver is undergoing treatment for less serious injuries, per the department's press statement.

Authorities have indicated that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the tragic incident. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under active investigation by the Vallejo Police Department’s Traffic Division. It's the city's second fatal traffic incident this year.
