Muni Riders Lift Car Off Duboce Tracks
Well, this happened again.

On Thursday night, a driver erroneously crossed into the entrance of the Muni tunnel at Duboce and Noe, and got stuck. Aaron Bialick over at Streetsblog was on an N-Judah train approaching the tunnel at the time, and documented the situation. According to Aaron, seven passengers from the Muni train literally took matters into their own hands, lifting the car out of its predicament. Streetsblog posted this video from the scene: This isn't the first time a car has mistakenly tried to enter a Muni tunnel. A similar incident occurred last June, although in that case, the driver was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence. (Aaron reports that the driver in Thursday's mishap "appeared sober.") While an impossibly-bright LED sign was installed at the other end of Duboce warning drivers not to enter the tunnel at Church Street, no such sign exists at this tunnel's entrance. The main deterrents are a solid white line and arrows painted on the pavement to steer drivers southward, and some bumps to rattle them when they go astray:

Apparently, those features aren't exactly sufficient. Any ideas for how Muni could better prevent situations like this from occurring in the future? Let us know in the comments.
