Nectar's Back Patio Opens, FinallyPhotos: Rose Garrett / Hoodline
Nearly four years in the making, the back patio of Nectar at 663 Haight is finally open.

Plans for the patio first took shape back in May of 2010, when the cafe was known as Katz Bagels.

Then in July 2012, when it became Nectar, it looked like the garden's opening was imminent.  Yet the doors remained shut.

This week, they opened, revealing a lush patio complete with several 2-person bistro tables, leafy landscaping, and potted succulents:

As it turns out, the patio's debut was tripped up by the usual hurdles of the city's permitting process.   The initial approval to use the outdoor space was granted by the Planning Commission in July of 2011, but the plans still had to get the sign-off of various other city agencies.  The permit was eventually issued in March of 2013, and final inspections occurred in February  2014.

So, here we are on the first day of Spring, with an inviting new addition to our neighborhood's outdoor dining options.  Check it out, and let us know if it was worth the wait.
