After 25 years, Andy’s Chinese Cuisine closed up shop in February, and neighborhood residents have been wondering what might move in ever since. Now, a notice in the window suggests that a new restaurateur is planning to take over the space.

According to a newly filed liquor license application, a spot called "Ke’s Seafood BBQ" will move into the former Asian restaurant at 1358 9th Ave.

Though details are scarce thus far, according to a recently issued building permit, the new owners are installing “roaster tech BBQ tables” in the dining room, which means the Inner Sunset could be getting its first teppanyaki-style restaurant, similar to the Benihana and Juban Yakiniku House restaurants in Japantown. Stay tuned for more as details on Ke's Seafood BBQ shake out.

Around the corner at 827 Irving, RadioShack has dodged the axe, even though the national chain is closing nearly 1,800 locations after filing for bankruptcy. As of last week, Sprint is sharing the storefront, which now offers a wide selection of phones and accessories. “We’re not going anywhere,” said a store clerk.

If the location had shuttered, the next closest electronics store would be the Best Buy on Harrison Street, 3.6 miles away (update: readers Al Magary and Leo Villacorte note that the nearest Best Buy is only 2.3 miles away, at Geary and Masonic). Like the less lucky Castro store, which is currently liquidating its inventory and will close within two months, the RadioShack on Irving was upgraded into a concept store, and shoppers should be able to continue browsing high-end gadgets like video drones and DIY Raspberry Pi kits.

Mellow Mellow is empty empty.

And down the block at 549 Irving, Mellow Mellow Tea Shop finally closed its doors, but a handwritten “coming soon” sign indicates a new tenant for this spacious 927-square-foot storefront. The space has already been cleared out, but so far details about who’s moving in are still forthcoming.
