Neighborhood Sidewalk Sale Swaps Belongings For Stories

Photos/videos: Josh Bogdan / Medium

Josh Bogdan and his wife are moving away from San Francisco. Like most of us, they had some items to get rid of in a sidewalk sale, which took place at Church at 15th last weekend.

But rather than going the Craigslist or typical garage sale route, they put an interesting spin on their "sale," with the only price on items being a story, impersonation, joke or personal perspective from the buyer.

During the "stuff for stories" sale last Saturday, passersby could select one item they wanted and pair it with a Post-It note prompt for a unique type of non-monetary exchange. Prompts ranged from telling a story about your father to giving your best impression of a hotdog. Bogdan filmed each of the stories and performances, providing some interesting, humorous, and personal moments.

Bogdan posted the story and videos on Medium. Here are some highlights from the project (there are many more).

Shane - story about mom

César -Oscar acceptance speech

Aidell - Getting in trouble as a kid

James - Personal Drama

Allie - How Mom met Dad
