CVS Employee Assaulted In Sock Robbery Gone AwryPhoto: Rose Garrett/Hoodline

You  may have noticed some commotion at the Haight & Fillmore CVS yesterday morning. At around 9:35am, the store was the scene of an assault on an employee during an attempted robbery.

According to the police report, a man in the 25-35 age range attempted to steal a pair of socks and a beverage from the store. When an employee confronted him, the suspect knocked the employee to the ground and struck him with a glass bottle. The 35-year-old male employee suffered a laceration to the head and was transported to Kaiser Hospital.

The suspect fled before police arrived, and no arrest has been made.

Update, 1:30pm: The SFPD's Albie Esparza got back to us with additional information about the suspect. He is described as 5'7" with red hair and an auburn beard, and was wearing a baseball cap at the time of the incident. The suspect walked in, grabbed a coffee beverage and a pair of socks and attempted to leave without paying. Esparza reports that the suspect fled east on Haight; his baseball cap fell as he left and the SFPD is using the hat for evidence. "CVS employees had never seen this man before but they would be able to recognize him if he came in again," said Esparza.

This is another bout of bad luck for the store, which opened two years ago. On March 18ththe pharmacy counter was robbed at simulated gunpoint when the suspect handed the pharmacist a note demanding that she give him "all of their prescription medication."
