Though a heavily-trafficked bike route runs through the neighborhood, the Lower Haight has only one bike shop: Wiggle Bicycles at 520 Waller. That'll all change soon, as San Francyclo, the Inner Richmond bike shop, is planning a second outpost at Haight & Scott.

The bike shop will move in to the vacant space at 799 Haight previously occupied by Santa Clara Market, which moved across the street in June to merge with Santa Clara Natural Organic Market.

The new shop will be similar to San Francyclo's existing location at 746 Arguello, which sells and rents bikes, does repairs and carries a variety of cycling accessories.

The only difference, said owner Jason Annecone, is that the new shop will be larger, thus allowing them to stock more goods and properly display their best-selling brand: Yuba Cargo Bikes. San Francyclo is the second largest Yuba dealer in the world, but they currently have to line up most of their bikes on the sidewalk due to the Inner Richmond shop's limited space.

Greater square footage, along with the space's proximity to the Wiggle, is what attracted Annecone to the space at 799 Haight. He tells us that he had been looking for a space in the Lower Haight for three years.

San Francyclo is slated to debut at 799 Haight on November 1st, but as always, that timeline could change based on the pace of the interior retrofit, which includes upgrading the bathroom and entrance to be ADA complaint.
