Construction Resumes On Haight, This Time To Repair Sinking PavementPhoto: Amy Stephenson/Hoodline

You guessed it: it's time for a yet another update on the Haight's ongoing construction-related trials and tribulations.

On Saturday, commenter sjb asked asked, "Does anyone know why both sides of Haight along Buena Vista Park are currently construction-no-parking, with Ghilotti Bros signage, if the infrastructure project is still on hold?" As sjb notes, this year's sewer construction project, which has prompted local outcry over a rash of gas line ruptures, is on hold through the holidays.

We looked into it, and here's what's happening: Alex Murillo of SF Public Works said they'll be "addressing some of the temporary sunken pavement" on Haight Street, specifically between Ashbury and Central.

"The temporary pavement that was placed over the trenches has sunken a bit at some locations. The remediation work may require crews grind sections of the trench, back-fill with new asphalt, and compact it to leave it flush with the road."

So, hopefully that means no more sinkholes?

Today, they'll be working in the middle of the road (aka "the mainline trench"), and taking parking spots in order to divert traffic away from the center.

Then, on Tuesday, they'll move to the outside of the road to the connecting trenches (aka "the lateral lines"). Parking will also be impacted during this work.

Finally, on Wednesday, they'll finish up by dealing with any issues leftover from Monday and Tuesday. They may be using parking spaces on Wednesday, and Murillo says it's best to check the A-frame signage every day to see what times work will impact parking.

Once all that's done, they'll be back on Monday the 30th to continue eastward, from Central to Buena Vista East.

More to come, we're sure.
